New York native actor and singer Jessica Fishenfeld's work spans theatre, film, television, comedy, and concert stages. After a decade in New York and an adventure-filled chapter building a screen and commercial career in Los Angeles, she has come full circle and currently resides again in New York.
Jessica kicks off the 26/27 season reprising the role of Angie in a new co-production of Heist, running at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and Gulfshore Playhouse, having previously appeared in the show’s U.S. Premiere at Arizona Theatre Company. Recent stage work also includes the Los Angeles premieres of The Angel Next Door (International City Theatre) and Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish in concert (National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene / The Soraya Center).
On screen, she appeared in Panhandle (Sony Pictures) opposite Luke Kirby and Tiana Okoye, was featured on America’s Got Talent Season 17 as a singing aerialist, and performed as a vocalist on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her national commercials include Little Caesars, Airalo (with Ken Jeong), Tanqueray (with Joe Jonas), Cirkul, and Motion. She also brought her solo show Sunny Side Up to Birdland, which Broadway World praised for her vocal versatility and expert timing.
In early 2020, Jessica made a “standout” Off-Broadway debut as Brünnhilde in Das Barbecü (New York Times) and earned acclaim in the World Premiere of Stonewall at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater. When the pandemic halted live performance, she turned to producing—creating and singing in Grateful: The Songs of John Bucchino, 20th Anniversary Concert, hailed by Broadway World as “one of the slickest, best-produced virtual concerts” of its era and featuring Stephen Schwartz, Leslie Odom Jr., Toni Tennille, and Ann Hampton Callaway, among other luminaries. The concert is now available on Broadway on Demand.
During her Los Angeles chapter, Jessica created and hosted Bagels & Banter, a series bringing entertainment-industry guests to LA bagel shops to talk career, life, and bagels. Her comedy work includes Westside Comedy Theater’s Mission IMPROVable, Hit List: The Improvised Musical, and improv and sketch training at The Groundlings (Writing Lab).
As a vocalist she has been featured at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Skirball Center, Circle in the Square, Joe’s Pub, and National Sawdust, with national and international appearances including Newport Music Festival, Palm Beach Opera, Helena Symphony, Xalapa Filarmonía (Mexico), Palazzo Vecchio (Italy), and the St. Barts Music Festival. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from NYU and a Master’s from Manhattan School of Music.
A Grammy-voting member of the Recording Academy, Jessica has several recordings available on streaming platforms, including her debut album The Nothing Lamp (Crossover Records) and her latest, Emily—settings of poetry by Emily Dickinson and Emily Brontë—created with her husband, singer, composer, and jazz pianist Scott Joiner. The two are currently adapting Emily into a musical.
